The "Will" Power of Relationships

The

Jerry and Linda Gladu treasure relationships. This isn't surprising when you consider Jerry spent much of his professional life working with philanthropists, while Linda created lasting friendships with many of the same individuals. "It was always about relationship development more so than income development," Jerry explained with a smile.

Jerry served as vice president of development for The Carle Development Foundation from 1980 to 1985. The relationships he and Linda built during this time are being honored through a $25,000 will bequest to The Carle Development Foundation. "Carle is a professional, compassionate and state-of-the-art institution, to be a tiny part of that means a great deal to us," Jerry and Linda agree.

Jerry says he was fortunate to be at Carle when Dr. J.C. Thomas Rogers, one of the founders, was alive. "He was a heroic guy; just look at where Carle is today." Jerry and Linda also fondly recall time spent with Richard Marquard, a generous individual who delivered a suitcase containing more than $250,000 in cash to Jerry for Carle. Linda still sends homemade cookies to their former neighbor, Dr. Frank Russ, a retired Carle surgeon.

The Gladus, who now reside in Springfield, simply request that their planned gift be used to honor Carle physicians and staff-past, present and future. "We knew we wanted to leave a gift to an extraordinary place that would keep growing and be a true memorial."

Jerry and Linda Gladu, above, created their will to be a reflection of the people and organizations they value the most. The Carle Development Foundation is honored to be included.

You also may want to make it easy and convenient to have a bequest included in your will. The language below shows how a bequest can very easily be included in your will.
